You have to answer a lot of questions for yourself before you decide what type of hair you want to buy. There are many different types of hair out there that you can buy, so make sure you do your research before you buy anything!
First: what type of hair style are you getting? Do you want braids, a ponytail extension or an up-do, or free flowing waves? What color hair are you going to be using? Is it going to blend in with your own hair? How long do you want these extensions to last? Do you want to be able to use heat (ie. curling iron or flat iron) on the extensions?
Synthetic hair is the least expensive type of hair out there. It is essentially a type of plastic, even though some can end up looking very nice. You won't be able to use heat on this type of hair, so the style (wavy, pin straight, curly, etc) you get is the style you stay with. Over a short period of time, synthetic fibers tend to get tangled easily and end up looking fake.
Human hair is more expensive. You will be able to do more with it. Human hair comes in a variety of colors and styles and you can use heat products on it.
The supreme type of human hair is remy hair. It is placed in a weft when all the hair cuticles are facing the same direction, causing less tangles and a more natural look. Virgin remy hair also comes unprocessed with no chemicals, so it is the most natural looking and very soft. This type of hair only comes in natural hair colors, like 1, 1B, etc and the most natural textures: straight, wavy, or with a slight curl.
My advice to you - especially if you are going for the free flowing look - is to get regular human hair. A good weave will last you for about 2 months and the hair will look fine and if done properly, look natural.
The yaki just describes the texture. "Yaki hair" resembles straight African-American hair, with a little bit of volume left to it. Some people prefer this type of straight texture rather than "silky straight hair" because it looks more natural looking to their own hair and less "European." The "silky yaki" you mentioned is probably a mix in between the two and will be a good texture.
Honestly, I think Sally's has a very limited hair selection and you need to go to a bigger beauty supply store to really see the variety of different hair, textures, and colors there are. Don't be afraid to ask for help from the associates and to open up the packs to feel the hair.
Again, you may think you are saving money by getting synthetic hair, but it may be a better choice to spend a little more money on getting something that is quality, more versatile, and that will last you longer. That being said, I do have a bunch of synthetic wigs that I do wear for fun sometimes, and some hair companies are coming out with "premium synthetic fibers" that can be heat styled up to 300 or 400 degrees.
Good luck with your search and your hair journey!
