Is their a way to take care of weave after its damaged?
A week ago I got Remy Velvet Yaki weave braided in. Well on my trip (on last Saturday) I went to the beach and my hair got wet. Afterward I washed it and my mother said it'll be fine. Now my hair looks just like Remy (Not the Velvet brand). It lost the quality that it had before. I Wasn't sure how much oil sheen I would have to put in it or if I straightened it wrong after I washed it. Is their a way it can gain its quality back?
If the hair was of the wet & wavy velvet Remy then it should have gotten very wavy and should not have had a problem being washed and then flat ironed straight. If it was just regular straight weave then you will always have a quality change after you wash your weave. It will still look good but not to the same quality as when you initially put it in. The problem was probably when you put the oil sheen in your hair. Weave doesn't absorb hair like African American hair (since its not made of Black hair), it makes it greasy and a different consistency, Just don't add anymore oil sheen to it. And seeing as Remy hair is not cheap and can be washed its worth getting redone, so go back to your stylist and have him/her re-style it.
