i am prejudice towards tradespeople. why?
at my work i deal with a lot of tradespeople such as builders, plumbers, electricians. i have come to classify them all as arrogant and self-indulgent pri*cks who think too highly of themselves because they are big and muscley and drive fancy utes. i now categorise all tradespeople as such and i dont even give the actual person a chance. am i wrong for thinking like this? why are tradespeople arrogant? are other people prejudice against them also? i think i am quite judgmental and that i stereotype people a lot.
i am a 22 y.o girl and i deal with tradespeople accounts in a wholesale store.
i know that i am stereotyping them ... but what are they thinking of me? probably something along the lines of here is a plain jane with brown hair and an average body. boring. nothing special. no need for me to be nice to her so il just treat her like a boring little administration worker. i am possibly well-wrong, but that is what i think they are thinking of me.
Tradespeople take pride in their skills. They see you as having no such skills and that could explain their attitude. This type of mindset that they are special because they have these skills is what keeps them going.
Maybe you feel a little insecure that you don't have skills like them.
