Dog grooming clippers?
I have been grooming my Mini Schnauzer myself for the least 6 months (every groomer we took him to hasnt done him the way I wanted, so just gave up). I got a set of Wahl dog clippers but they have become blunt and started jamming and making this awful noise.
Which professional clippers would the groomers suggest? Also, if the blades are interchangeable, which blades to use on the body and head (so the hair is not too short cos its winter)?

Hi! Did you know that you can get the blades sharpened? It costs about $5 to get them sharpened. You just mail in the blades to Wahl. http://consumer.wahl.com/service.cfm Check out that site and it will tell you where to mail your blades.
If you don't want to get the blades sharpened you can just buy a new blade. There are different sizes of blades for the variety of products. For dog grooming if you have those little pastic blade covers that pop on - you'll probably want to stick with a #10 blade. However, if you're grooming without them then I would suggest a #5 or 7 blade to leave the hair a bit longer (the higher the # the shorter the hair is - I work at a vet and we use a #40 to clip hair for surgery). Next - I agree that I prefer Wahl and Andis clippers. Both are great brands. The sites I sent you above (Wahl and Jeffers) both sell the clippers. I have a Wahl Pro series and love it. My favorite thing about it is that it can be cordless. I show horses and use it on them in addition to grooming my own dog.
The only suggestions that I would say are: to remember to use the blade wash and cool lube and if you decide to purchase a whole new clipper to purchase one that states that it can clip thick body hair and not just trimming ( you probably already know those things though). A good clipper definately pays for itself in a hurry.
