Tress Mono
Do I use imperfect or past tense for this in Spanish?

One day, Monkey (the monkey's name is Monkey) was eating a banana and Croco (the crocodile) was watching all the animals in the tress above the river. Suddenly, Monkey accidentally dropped the banana into the river.

Un día, Monkey (el mono se llama Monkey) comía un plátano y Croc (el cocodrilo) miraba todos los animales en los árboles por encima del río. De pronto, Monkey accidentalmente dejó caer el plátano en el río.

Is there anything I should fix? Do I need to change the past tense into the imperfect tense or vice versa?

Un día, Mono comía un plátano y Croco miraba a todos los animales en los árboles encima del río. De repente, el Mono por casualidad dejó caer el plátano en el río.

There you are. You have to use the imperfect here because you are speaking of incomplete actions when referring to the acts of eating and watching. However, to speak of the dropping of the banana, you use the preterite to indicate that the action was completed; it fell that one time while the other actions, the eating and watching, were in progress. Also, to say accidentally, use por casualidad. I just got home from a long, long day at work and am answering your questions one by one. I saw one answer here before this one and it was quite bad; as if someone ran your work through an online translator. My example is correct. I'm moving to your next question now! Good luck. Juan
