Tea Tree Oil Shampoo doesn't quite work - why?
I bought some Tea Tree Oil Shampoo from the place where I got my hair cut since when they shampooed my hair, it really tingled my scalp and I very much enjoyed it. The bottle I bought doesn't do this nor does the bottle I switched out for another one. What could be the problem??
The hair place couldn't explain it. Would getting some tea tree oil & add it to the shampoo get me the same tingling effect I'm looking for??
Tea tree oil has many properties that would be considered 'medicinal' to the body. It can help with dandruff, infections, athlete's foot and it has antimicrobial properties. The tingling you felt was likely a 'treatment' for you. The tingling isn't likely to repeat every time you use it - that's just not how it works. You need to be cautious here, tea tree oil can be irritating especially to the scalp. I have a friend who was so excited about it that she shampooed her hair every day, and within a month her hair was so dry that it started breaking - it just fried her hair and it took months and many conditioning treatments to get close to normal again. It is good for occasional use, but it really shouldn't be used regularly. It sounds like it did have some positive effect on you, but don't expect it to continue with every shampoo.
