Post circumcision questions:?
When can I shower again?
When can I remove the gauze?
When am I supposed to remove the stitches? My doctor put self-dissolving and normal stitches (idk if it's self dissolving, there were like 3-4 stitches at the back of my penis that were plastic-transparent like and the others were black stitches so I don't really know, it's been more than a week now)
When I touch the head of my penis, I feel a shock, since the foreskin is gone, will that feeling last forever? or will I get used to it?
You doctor should have given you comprehensive post-operative care instructions which would include answers to your first two questions. General advice can be obtained from http://www.circinfo.com/prepandcare/pac.html
Different doctors use different techniques of bandaging and thus the initial bandage may need to be removed after 24 hours or kept on as long as a week. You can shower once the initial bandage is removed, but it is preferable to keep the area dry until the wound has healed. You can do this by putting a plastic sandwich bag over your penis before showering.
Ordinary water does not dissolve the stitches. They are made of gut and are only dissolved by enzymes in the lymph that your body brings to the site of the cut to assist it to heal. The stitches will have done their job in around 7-10 days and should be removed after 12 days if they have not dissolved by then.
Once the stitches are out the swelling will subside much faster as part of it is caused by the presence of the 'foreign body' of the stitch material. The different colours of the stitch material have no particular significance to you, but help the doctor distinguish between different thicknesses of material, and hence different strengths.
It will take several weeks, possibly even a couple of months, for your glans to net feel over-sensitive. Your brain will gradually 'tune out' the unwanted signals from your glans in the same way as it 'tunes out' the fat that clothing is touching other parts of your skin. You will loose this over-sensitivity to normal touch, but your sexual sensitivity will either not be changed or will actually be enhanced.
