What tools are most often used to create professional looking sites?
I'm currently learning HTML, CSS, and Javascript. However, I'd like to know how professional sites are usually created?
Do programmers normally start with a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver, and then just tweak the page in code view?
Also, how often is Flash used on a site?
I'm just trying to get an overview of what software I need to learn to create professional looking websites.
Thanks!
Professionals, IF they use any WYSIWYG, use it to prepare their layout, then drop it.
Otherwise:
Photoshop (or similar) and Notepad++ (or similar), and years of experience in several languages.
To test; a 1680 resolution monitor, IE, FF, Opera, Safari and Chrome, and checked from 800 resolution.
Using Flash in a website is not too bad, as long as it is NOT on home page (A commercial flash site NEVER is successful: Flash kills 90% of your potential buyers...)
Flash was a fab a few years ago, but it has soon been realised that its donwload time always exceeds 2 seconds: the time you have to grab your visitor... or loose it forever.
Maybe in 10 years, when EVERYONE in the world will have a 10Mb bandwidth... bute there are still 22% people working on dial-up!
