Pink and white acrylics tool?
Trying to do my own nails and wanted to do some pink and whites. At the salon where I have mine done they first put the pink on the entire nail and then they take some sort of metal object (it kind of looks like a ninja star) and scrape off the "smile line" the line that is to be filled in with the white acrylic for the tip...problem is I cannot seem to find this tool anywhere! If anyone knows the name of this it would be excellent. I could not find it at Sally's either!!! Thanks
I'm not going to sit here and lecture you about the problems that could arise for someone who is not thoroughly trained and licensed as a nail tech, but there really is a lot that can go wrong, and it isn't as easy as it appears to do nails.
I would like to show you a few ways that you can do nails without the use of a tool of any sort. Use of a tool to create smile lines is simply not the way that skilled techs do nails. Those were designed for people who do not have the ability, nor the skillls necessary to do a smile line the 'right' way. So, they use a tool that does the work for them. I'ts really the same as 'cheating,' so to speak. Don't get me wrong, you too can do these techniques all without the use of a tool - with some practice, that is. If you want to use one, go ahead - no one is stopping you from using one of those. But, If you are really interested in learning how to do nails correctly, I feel that it's best to learn good habits right from the start. Using a cookie cutter tool is not a good habit to have for anyone who does nails. So, if it interests you at all, please have a look at these videos. These demonstrate three distinctly different ways to do a smile line correctly. It takes LOTS of practice to do them correctly. But the end result is a great looking set of nails without the use of any 'cookie' cutter tools.
The first video demonstrates what is called the reverse application. That is because the white is usually applied first, then the pink. The second video shows a one ball method of applying the white, then the pink. Both of these videos use the sculpting technique, which is the use of nail forms instead of nail tips. Highly skilled nail technicians will often use this method instead of using tips. But, it takes lots of practice to do either of these, and do them well.

And one more to show you a way to apply acrylic nails using nail tips with glitter on the free edge instead of white.
I hope this helps!
