Brand new DVD "not writable" in Roxio?
I'm trying to back up some files to a DVD... I would do a CD, but I need to back up about 5 GB and don't want to do it on multiple CDs. I've got a Mac Mini, the files are on a NewerTech external hard drive, I have a Sony DVD drive connected to the computer with a firewire cable (my computer drive can't write to a DVD), and I'm using Roxio Toast Titanium to burn to the DVD. I drag the files to the Roxio box, choose the Sony DVD burner, insert a disc, and try to burn the DVD... and it keeps saying that the DVD isn't writable. I've tried about a dozen brand new DVD-Rs and supposedly none of them are writable. I have no idea what to do from here. Any tips?
I just noticed that my DVDs are DVD-R, and the DVD writer than I borrowed says DVD+R/RW. So I'm guessing it's a compatibility issue?
Try a different DVD. It might be bad.
If that doesn't work, maybe it's a compatibility issue. If this is the case, use a Flash Drive to back it up instead.
