Can a cat expert answer this?
My 3 month old kitten gets on my blanket at night, close to my face, and licks the blanket, purrs, and sort of stretches out her fingers and claws and pushes the blanket, NOT claw it. She doesn't do this during the day. My blanket has sort of a bumpy texture so I think it might be the cat equivalent of a baby sucking a pacifier, but I'm stumped. I DON'T think it's because of the way the blanket tastes.
It is because it misses it mother and it is letting you know that it is happy. It is really acting like it is nursing on the mother. All of my cat's still do it to this day and two of them are a lest 7 years old. Don't worry. It is just letting you know that it is happy to be with you and that it trusts you and loves you.
