Natural Spiral Curls! Help Please?
Hi im African American and recently decided to go natural after years of perming my hair not knowing the damage is was doing. My last perm was in June or July of 2010. I always wear braids.
Last Monday I took my braids out and went through my regular routine which is a basic shampoo, conditioner, then I air dry.
As my hair dried I ran my fingers through my hair and felt really tight curls.
They look like little tiny Slinky's.
After research came to the conclusion that they are spiral curls but just very small.
Please Help I am not used to this new hair texture that I have just discovered.
I have no clue on how to de-tangle because they are so tightly coiled.
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thx!
Don't worry I have naturally curly hair too. And at first I used to always straighten it because my hair looked so bad. Then when I went to my hairstylist to get a haircut, she was telling me that curly hair is beautiful and that it's meant to be defined. So, I know your hair may seem different from the perms but if you just take your time defining your curls then you'll realize it probably looks great!
So here's what to do to define your curls:
After shampoo and conditioning your hair you should put leave-in conditioner. Also you should really buy some curl-defining spray. Scrunch your hair after putting in the spray... also instead of spray you can use mousse.
That's just simple steps that I use.
I get most of them from the link below. It's really helpful!
