Using hot glue on electronic components...
...I've heard is not a good idea. I want to beef up some cheapo IDE cables that I bought. They are the round type as opposed to the flat ribbon type. The rubber boot is poorly made and leaves a bit of (insulated) wire exposed. I think that the connectors will fall apart with use. Hot glue looks like it would do the job that I want. However, I've done some research and learned that hot glue can conduct milli or micro Amps/Volts. Can anyone recommend an alternative, maybe silicone gel, AND where to buy it at?
I'd recommend tape before hot glue. While manufacturers use glue to hold components in place, it's not the hot glue you can buy at the hardware store.
