Shower Gel Soap

Why is every shower gel soap-free nowadays?
Isn't soap supposed to contain soap? 
I just went to the store to buy a shower gel, when I arrived home I realised it is soap-free!
Also, what are the pros and cons of using a soap-free soap? :p
Soap may dry out the skin , but that's what lotions for. Body wash contains many more chemicals which can clog pores and even irritate the skin and definitely doesn't clean as well. If you are going to use body wash I would suggest using Aveeno because it very gentle and has mostly natural ingredients, another alternative is Dove (bar soap or body wash, both are great!)
Bar Soap or Shower Gel???
