why would moisturising shampoo make my hair even more dry?
when ever i use a shampoo for dry hair, it makes my hair even more dry than it was before, but when i use a volumising shampoo it doesn't, does anyone have an idea of why this might be? the the only time my hair is healthy is during the winter
It depends. How and how often you wash your hair, why you classify your hair as dry and type of shampoo used?
Most importantly, why is your hair dry? Do you color, perm or relax? Lots of blow drying or hot iron?
The best general advise is to was your hair with shampoo every OTHER day. A small amount of shampoo will suffice. Scrub through. If there are not a lot of suds, rinse and reapply another small amount. Shampoo will not bubble up when the hair is "dirty." Condition EVERY day. A lot of people do not take the time to condition. Just a small amount run through your hair and leave in while you wash up, shave legs or whatever... and if possible, rinse your hair all the time in cool water. The hot water can really damage your hair. Especially if you color or perm because it will draw out the color faster. It opens the hair's cuticle where as cooler water closes them.
I am a licensed Cosmetologist (US) and my new clients hate the cool rinse, but tell me every time they notice their hair has more shine, feels much better and is smooth. Also if available, filtered water is great. We have a filter on the shower head ($20 @ Home Depot) and I have really seen a difference in my hair.
