How long will redken color shades stay in your hair?
i decided to shade my hair with redken color shades. (my stylist did it for me) i originally have long brown hair with sun highlights. i did not realize how dark my hair was in the first place, but i only shaded it 1 shade darker, and now it is so dark since the blonde (from the sun) is out. it is not black, but it is a 7 on the color "line" (1 being the lightest blonde, 10 being the deepest black). i love the color, but am having second thoughts, since i am not used to it. but since it "shades" it and does not color it (no dye or amonia) i was wondering how long it will stay in your hair, and if you can completely take out the shade to go back to exactly what you had before. thank you for answering my question, i know it may be long, but i am a little concerned...
Redken Shades is a demi-permanent haircolor. As your hair grows out, it fades so that their is a less obvious line of regrowth, but still retains some of the color. It is also somewhat of a transparent color. In my experience using Redken's Shades, particularly in level 7 and lighter shades, it should fade out significantly. After a few washings, the previously lightened areas of your hair should lighten a little, softening the look. In time, your hair should fade quite a bit, maybe not as light as originally, but not too far off. Also, the more it is exposed to the sun, heat stylers, and other factors, it should lighten just as your hair would lighten naturally. So I wouldn't worry. It usually takes more than one application of Shades on relatively healthy hair to get it to stain a darker color permanently. You will most likely be back close to your original color in no time.
