K- Pak Reconstructor and Cholestrol Conditioner?
My hair is pretty dry and damaged from years of coloring and the last foil highlghts I got made my hair start breaking. I am getting married in two months and have been trying to get it back in shape as I have long hair and will be wearing it down for the wedding. I haven't blow dried my hair in a few months and I flat iron maybe once a week or every other week. I bought Joico K-Pak reconstructor and am wondering if I can use a my queen helene cholesterol on my hair after. I wouldn't think it would hurt but I am not for sure. Also, I am only planning to use it once a week as I use a leave in Keratin spray from chi after I wash my hair (about every 2-3 days). I also bought Redken Extreme shampoo and conditioner but am afraid the combination of all these products will give my hair too much protein. Any suggestions from seasoned hair stylists? My hair is very thick and very coarse.
It sound like you have purchased awesome products! However, K-Pack is all you need. (but you can use more) The Cholesterol is good, yes, but is generally used to condition. Also, get at leat two inches trimmed off the ends each month. (even better, get some layers too, this will help get all the dead ends!) Generally the only way to repair damaged hair is to cutt it off, but you can use products to smooth the cuticle. The combinations and extended use of the products you mentioned will not do any harm. As the products you are using are hydrators. If you are using extreme by redken, I would use this every other day and then use the K-Pak after the 7th wash. Generally that's how you deep condition. Also, try buying a clarifying shampoo and using that every 8th wash, this will remove the waxes and build ups of all the other products you are using to help your hair take the conditioning treatments better. But don't use a clarifying shampoo too much, this will dry it out more. This is only for later, after your hair isn't damaged any longer. I do think that if you use your "Queen Helene" conditioner after the K-Pak, it will weigh it down. These products aren't bad, nor do they contain too much protein, they have a lot of wax. Wax is what builds up. Also,K-Pak carries a new "Split end mender" that is also awesome, try that too! Protein will make the hair hard, but if you hydrate it after it will help. Another point to remember is that you should only wash your hair every other day, the more you wash it the more you take out the natural oils. And you don't have any to spare. I hope I have answered your questions! Good Luck!
