What should i do with my unruly hair!?
I have ALWAYS had corse, dry, curly, thick hair. This type of hair runs in my family. I also color it a lighter shade of blonde over my natural color (and am probably not going to stop dying it). I wash my hair 3x a week and get haircuts 3 or 4x a year.
I used to straighten my hair with a $200 ceramic flat iron. My hair has become pretty damaged still and I only flat iron it every other week. I want to know what is the best conditioner because I am trying to grow it out but the ends always seem to split.
I have tried Mane & Tail, Phyto, Pureology, Pureology Nanoworks, Redkin, Rusk... pretty much every expensive brand.
I've also used olive oil, moroccan oil, and some weird hair mayonaise.
I just want long hair again!!!
What should i do/use?
Nothing's going to make your hair healthier as long as you continue to damage it. Stop damaging it and then you'll begin to see healthier hair. Sometimes the damage is so bad that it can't be repaired and you have to get a hair cut or let it grow out. I hope you're only dying your roots, because dying your ends regularly is just going to make your hair worse. If your ends have faded then consider getting a rinse put on the ends and bleach only the roots. Obviously, flat ironing isnt' the only way to damage your hair. It matters how often your flat iron, and it also matters how high your heat setting is and whether or not you're using a good heat protector. Coarse, curly, thick hair does not always need a high heat setting, and anything over 400 degrees is burning your hair. I only say this because people with thick, curly, coarse hair tend to think only a high heat setting will get it straight. A too high setting will get anyone's hair straight, but it also damages it. To get your hair straight then it's more about the technique and products you use rather than the highest heat setting. If none of this applies to you then ignore it.
You're not going to get longer hair as long as you keep damaging it. Obviously, what you're doing to it isn't working, and expensive brands won't work unless you stop damaging your hair....
