Meaning of" domiciled" status in Indian law?
Greetings! I have a small doubt: what does "domiciled in India" mean in legal terms? I am applying for a job where applicants need to be domiciled in India. I have Indian passport and Permanent residence Certificate (PRC) from our sate government. However, I am abroad on a student visa, at the moment. Am I considered to be domiciled in India?

Also one more thing: what is the legal difference between the terms "domiciled in India" and "resident in India," just curious.
What's the most important issue for determine the domicile status of the person his/her intention to be residing at a particular place. The temporary residence at a place for particular time for particular purpose cannot amount that the person has intention to settle at the given place permanently.
A person on Student Visa has got this facility for temporary period for the time till he/she is Student in the give country, in no manner his residence in that country amount to be his place of domicile.The place where the person was born, or whose citizenship he/she enjoys shall be his place of domicile for all practical purposes.
The intention to visit another country for obtaining education & stay there is only temporary arrangement & for the purpose of domicile the stay has to be more then temporary, with intention to continue for longer period of time, settle there for all practical purpose even if do not apply for the citizenship of that country.
For the purpose of the domicile of any place the period of stay, purpose of stay, martial or family status (whether married with local domicile/citizen with an intent to continue stay there), ownership status with regard to his/her property made or obtained in the place her presently resides & present educational/working status of the person like student, business etc (to reside there & work for longer period of time ultimately resulting in permanent stay there) has to be checked for determining if the person can be considered as domicile of that place or not.
You are no doubt citizen of India as well Indian domicile even if you are residing in another country on student visa.
