Why do global warming skeptics hold so much political power?
If you listen to the global warming cheerleaders the overwhelming majority of scientists and the population believe that anthropogenic global warming is a cause for alarm and they support actions necessary to reduce co2 emissions. They also say that the economic experts believe that decarbonizing our economy will have economic benefits by providing green jobs.
So why are politicians listening to this small minority of global warming skeptics? Why do they hold so much power that they are afraid of them?
If you believe that politicians are listening to the interests of big oil, then why are you here on this forum trying to convince others that global warming is real? It does not matter how many people you convince, politicians will still listen to big oil. So why are you here?
You obviously have been drinking too much of the kool aid. The skeptics are no longer a minority in America, it is now nearly an even split. The question really is why some scientists have been allowed to make absurdly arrogant and ignorant claims of certainty and why some Goracle-following politicians have been able to make outrageous claims that the science is concluded, and show absolutely false things like London under water without being bashed down by the media and the scientists.
Dude you have it backwards.The claims of certainty and urgency that have been made, have been done with little evidence and this would not fly in most other disciplines of science. The only reason this has worked thus far is due to the climate scientist field being relatively young, pulling from many disciplines and so diverse as to not be easily questioned or validated by other scientists even in that field. Not to mention that it has been populated by a bunch of astro-physicists who actually believe "multiple universes" is a theory. They have forgotten the scientific method so much, that they no longer require any evidence, testing or predictions, just say some fantasy and make people prove you wrong.
