Can I run an air conditioner during a thunderstorm if it's plugged into a surge protector?
I know that thunderstorms can kill the compressor, but is it ok to leave an air conditioner on if it's plugged into a surge protector? Or are power surges not the issue with thunderstorms?
I have a portable air conditioner (plastic duct work attached to the window, with the unit sitting inside the house. So I'm not worried about lightning striking the unit.)
computers and flat screen t.v. i would turn off... i dont see any harm with an a/c unit
