Colouring my hair @ home... How do i make sure my roots turn out the same colour as the rest of my hair!?
I have "strawberry blonde" coloured hair. I have started dying my hair at home myself (dark brown) ... it is due to be coloured again soon . My roots are quite obvious at the moment, but as I'm not that experienced with colouring my hair myself,... i was wondering with the roots been such a colour difference to the rest of my hair (dark brown) do i put the colour on the roots and leave it ahwile before i add the rest of the dye to the ends? how do i make sure that the roots will turn out the same as the rest of my hair? the ends are still brown... the top is strawberry blonde/ginger. thanks!!
if it matters - i use l'oreal casting, in shade 400 - dark brown. =) i'm willing to change if anyone knows a better option. thanks!!
i know that the dye will work on the roots - i mean how do i make sure its an even colour with there been such a difference between the colours!
Being your regrowth is so light it is probably going to turn out lighter than your ends because your ends have so much product on it. What these home color products don't tell ya is that you shouldn't do your ends every time you color so you get build up and it becomes even a bit darker with time as well as with contact to the minerals in water which darkens hair over time. You are better off going to a salon to get it right but if its possible to do the following do it. Find an inconspicuous spot on your heat and pull the hair back so the roots are exposed. Mix only a tiny bit of the color and a tiny bit of the developer in a non-metal container a few drops of each is enough, but they should be equal amts. Apply that mixture to the roots and leave on the required amt. of time. rinse, and see what you think about how it matches. Or you could go with a darker shade than what you are using if necessary. And remember, if the ends aren't faded, they don't need done every time.
