I'm not sure about these products in particular but, I'm thinking because you are using a volume control cream that your hair is somewhat thick and weighing it down wouldn't be a bad thing necessarily. The only way to know for sure is to try it.
I'm a huge fan of combining two or more products together. A hair cocktail!
