Mitchell Extra

Are more expensive hair products worth the price?
I have normal-dry curly hair. And I keep it short (I am a guy). So I was shopping for a better shampoo, conditioner, or treatment. Somebody recommended Paul Mitchell. Any bottle with that name on it seems to cost at least 4-5 times of a household brand like Garnier Fructis.
My question is: for those with personal experience with expensive/professional hair products, is it worth it to pay for the extra?
Some are worth it, others are total crap. My fav professional products are anything Aveda. Paul Mitchell isn't my cup of tea, its alright but nothing spectacular. Bed head is also okay. If you want something cheap....Try Aussie Deeeeep 3 minute miracle conditioner (purple bottle). It's better than most of the expensive conditioners I've tried and its dirt cheap like 3 bucks and is perfect for dry hair.
