Medicated Dandruff
![]() |

My Min Pin has dandruff. People say not to bath them but 4-6 times a year.?
If I use a medicated shampoo, I would only use it 4-6 times a year? Would I wipe it on him during the rest of the year with a warm rag? Doing it 4-6 times a year would that help him?
I read it from another answer from yahoo answers. I agreed on the smelly part also. One a month seems fair to me. Thanks!
It depends on the medicated shampoo and where you got it from. If it's just over the counter stuff, then yes, as someone else mentioned, every four weeks would be right. If this is a prescription shampoo from your vet, then follow the vet's instructions, usually vet prescribed medicated shampoo is weekly, but the shampoos are soap free and specially formulated to be able to bathe a dog more often.
If this is just you picking up something from the local walmart and not looking into WHY your dog has dandruff, try to figure first what is causing the dandruff because it can be a number of different reasons. A recent food change? A change in the detergent you wash his bedding in? This time a year a LOT of dogs who have otherwise normal skin get dandruff do to the humidity change and heating coming on, and it sorts itself out after a couple weeks without the need of medicated baths. First figure out why it exists before you rush into treating, the dandruff could be a symptom of something else.
Good luck
