LCD flat screen TV picture problems?
I have a Samsung flat screen TV (32" I think) that I bought a year ago. In the last week, I've been having some problems with the picture. Areas that are supposed to be black are washing out in red. This doesn't happen with any other color, just black turning to red. This happens to even the black sidebars on the 4:3 screen, or the top and bottom bars on the 16:9 screen. It happens to the hair on black people who are on my screen. Areas that are supposed to be black are red. What is the cause and what can I do about it?
To produce black on an LCD TV, your video processor must instruct the three primary color dots (blue, red and green) to twist/untwist into the position that allows the least amount of light to pass through the polarized screens. If you are getting reds in your blacks, then you may either have a failure in the red pixel control logic or you need a simple adjustment of the red pixel biasisng. Try adjusting your color tint via the menu system. If this can not correct the problem, then you are going to need a TV tech for service; contact the manufacturer if still under warranty otherwise look for a local tech that is certified and experienced to work on Samsung TVs.
