I need help understanding Human Nature?
I'm realising I am too trusting of others and lately I'm finding out that everyone close to me has either been lieing to my face or cheating behind my back. I'm too kind and I think people see that as weakness. I want to learn about human nature and how I can avoid heart ache. I tend to have high expectations of those around me and when I feel I been wronged I tend to take it hard. (Yes I realise all people are not perfect).
I just want to understand human nature so I can adjust my outlook. I've recently finished reading Machiavelli's The Prince and I have learned a lot. Are there any other books similar to that (maybe websites) that talk about human nature?
One of the best observations of the human condition is Machiavelli's work. While not all people are to be found in his pages many are. A little cynicism is a good thing for everyone to have. It seems you have learned the hard way. But do not look for a snake under every rock - it will destroy your life.
Many works of fiction have this same theme. Read "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." or almost any major work of fiction.
