Heated Curling
Need advice on curling very straight hair on heated curlers!?

Whenever I curl my hair on heated rollers it just goes flat again within an hour of it being curled. I want to curl my hair for my wedding but want the curls to last - can anyone give me any advice on how best to do this? (I've got long hair).

Hi :)

The problem may be that your hair is long and the heat from the curlers isn't heating the whole length of hair enough.
I would suggest that you shampoo and condition your hair as usual, blast your hair with cold water before you get out the shower ( so it will close cuticles on the head ).
Heat your curlers for as long as you can and then section your hair into as many sections as you can, ( maybe a friend to help? ). Use a small spritz of hairspray before you put the curlers in, gently brush hairspray through so it doesn't go hard - then roll hair over the curler trying to keep hair tight and neatly on the roller. You may need to section your hair a bit more than usual so re-using the heat rollers in your hair may need to be an option.

Make sure your hair is tight on the rollers and go over the rollers with a hair dryer on a medium heat, I suggest this so the rest of the hair that isn't getting a lot of heat will and the curl will hold better [ do this for around 2 minutes] Immidientally after give your hair a good light spray of hair spray again make sure it is 30 cm away from head, If you have a cold setting on your hairdryer now is the time to use it to close the folicles on your head and set the style. Be careful when taking the rollers out, You want to make sure you are only using enough hairspray to hold the shape not make your hair tacky and stiff. Gently unroll your hair from heat roller and let drop naturally, start from the back and the work around to the front. You can use a pointy edged comb to seperate curls etc.

Now you can either spray hair with a shining serum and/or a hairspray to ensure maximum hold.

Sorry this is long but it has worked for me beautifully when my remington curlers weren't heating and holding my hair enough.

Goodluck!

I know i'm mentioning hair spray a lot!! But you can buy a light hold hair spray to help you with the first few times you use hairspray so your hair isn't hard. Then you could use a maximum hold for the final spray.
