How are people born with different hair types? Like really curly, or wavy or straight?
Can genetics really put a curl in your hair? Or is your hair clever enough to know to curl?

Yes, genes can really put a curl in your hair. It also determines what hair color you will have, what facial features you have, your eye color, etc. Genes determine what you look like. Since everyone does not come from the same racial background then this makes up for the difference in hair texture. I'm not scientist so I cannot expand on this, but you can probably find good information about it at wikipedia. Blacks usually have thick, extremely curly, and coarse hair. Asians usually have bone straight hair that's hard to keep a curl. What genes we get determines what features we get. I have a sister who's half black/japanese so she can have 100% black hair features or 100% asian hair features or a combination of the two.
