Hair Fall

Did your hair fall out after having extensions?
I'm planning to get extensions cause I have really thin hair. But people tell me they make your hair fall out and they dont last long? Is that true?
I would get them done professionally and not too cheap.
I had clip on extensions for 270$ and they only last a week !
Depending on the methods used when they are put in & removed from your hair and how often you have them redone, they can be mildly to extremely damaging. They can be sewed or glued in, neither of which is pleasant when they are taken out. Personally, I had 4 small braids in my hair which the extensions were then sewed into - this is much less damaging than gluing. My stylist recommended having them redone every 6-8 weeks. However, because it cost me $450 (this is NOT including the $300 for the actual hair!!) to have them sewn in every time, I always put off having them redone, usually around 3-4 months. Therefore, when I would finally go to have them redone, the hair that was braided was very dry, nappy and unhealthy- and most of it ended up on the floor as it was being brushed out. (very disheartening for someone who already has thin hair) Basically, it is one of those things that is only rewarding in the instant gratification sense- it feels and looks great at the beginning; but your hair will suffer the consequences for months to come; that is, unless you plan on wearing extensions for the rest of your life. Best of luck, if you decide against the extensions, wigs (not the cheap-o ones, they look fake and defeat the purpose) are also something you could take into consideration....
