I am a wood crafter and use a glossy oil finish on my projects. I apply a thin coat, let it dry 24 hours, buff with 0000 steel wool then apply another coat, repeating the oil application and steel wool buffing until I like the results. This is time consuming but I get several hundred dollars from a item so its worth it. But now I'm making small wooden earrings about the size of a quarter or postage stamp and I refuse to put all the care, time and effort of my finish into an item that brings me 10-12 bucks. But I need high gloss for earrings. Polyeurothene is out because it shows the pores wen it dries as does laquer. I'm thinking high gloss car wax. Apply, wait a few minutes, then buff at 1725 RPMs. Anyone ever try car wax on wood before? Eventually I'll start experimenting.
