Freeze Dried Tubifex Worms - Can they spring back to life?
Can these things come back to life?
I started getting little red worms under 1cm long in the filter media. They wiggle a little bit, but they don't seem super ambulatory.
I overfed for the past 2 weeks as I just hatched babies & they're hiding in the rock work.
I'm wondering if they came from excess food, food contaminated with viable parasite eggs, or if its freeze dried tubifex worms that came back to life after going uneaten.
Does anybody have any input as to what they could be and if they're harmfull?
The adults can not. hey have died. Nevertheless, the eggs can very well do just that. They have no trouble being freeze dried and wen added the water make adults in no time! It's impossible for manufacturers to keep the eggs out so this happens to many people.
But tubiflex are not usually red. more beige. So keep any eye out. Like the first poster said, it could very well be a pest, although extremely easy to fix. Sometimes when you cut back on the food sources for just a few days, problems like those clear up, either your fish eat them or they die away, or worse of all , they are actually parasites.
I think personally, the eggs hatched and you have some tubiflex worms. Good luck.
