I need latex-free exam gloves but smalls are too short & medium are too baggy in several brands. Any advice?
Latex-free implies that you need either nitrile or vinyl exam gloves. The different materials fit different. The vinyl is often more loose fitting than nitrile. To claim "exam", manufacturers are required to meet ASTM standards which specifies palm width and length for each size. However, there is a tolerance for each size, thus allowing and resulting in variation between brands and types. The tolerance is about 10mm across the palm, which is significant to sizing. In some cases, a medium of one brand may be very close to a small of another brand. If fit on the hand is an issue, you can do a quick measurement across the palm of the small that doesn't work and the medium that is too baggy. This will give you an idea of what your target might be. You could then contact several manufacturers and ask for a glove that is near your target. Based on the question you asked, it appears that you may be okay with the hand fit of the small, but you are not happy with the length. Per ASTM, exam gloves are required to meet a minimum length. To save cost, many manufacturers try to run as close to that minimum as possible. There are several lengths available on the market. 9", 9.5", 10", and 12" are the most common. Typically, international brands are a bit longer as the length requirement in Europe is a bit longer. Several brands to consider are Kimberly Clark (Safeskin) and Ansell. Good luck!
