Is this lotion okay to use on a new tattoo?
I just got a new tattoo yesterday and I'm wondering if this lotion is okay to use on it. It is Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion with soothing oat essence. It says it relieves itchy, extra dry skin, moisturizes for 24 hours and it has natural shea butter. It's fragrance free.
Im no tattoo artist but I have alot of them.
Normally your artist will recommend something, if they don't give you any samples or any recommendations then I would follow advice on here.
I would stay away from lotions with scents, I would stay away from lotions with lots of unnecessary chemicals. Personally I used a little bit of Vaseline because I was so itchy.
Keeping your ink moisturized is vital to its preservation and longevity. Its going to scab a little bit and thats okay, it will go away on its own. Do not pick at the scabs, picking at it will cause it to become splotchy and in some cases you'll have to get touch ups.
Use sunscreen on it at all times when your outside, try Tattoo Balm, its a very good sunscreen that you can sometimes find at tanning salons. Id search the web for it to see a its closest retail location.
I made my OWN Whipped Shea Butter!
