Haircut help !!!?
I got some crew comb gel, but I still can't get my flattop to stand up. Should I use hairspray? As some told me maybe get it cut shorter. I know Flattops should be showing skin at the top and crown of the head., I got a bunch of hair there. The sides are kind of long too. Are they suppose to be shaved ?

I'm a hairdresser A real flattop should be shaved up to where the top is just to round on the sides if you put your hand flat on the side and fingers straight up end of palm at top of ear where your fingers start . not the tips .This is where it should be shaved to.Then to make the hair stand up,wet your hair and towel dry it ,then have some type of gel or mousse ,and yes you need hairspray.Do you have a blowdryer because you need one .You need a little gel or mousse put it in your hand and rub hands together put it in your hair.Now spray just a littkle spray about 6 inches aways just enough to get on the hair.Now to finish this look you get a comb dryer should be warm and on low because it will blow too hard.Start by pulling it up with fingers first if it's too long .You need to pull it up in the opposite direction that it grows. the hairspray and comb and dryer is how it stands up.
