How do I splice a vanity light to an extension cord for use?
I don't want to hook up a vanity light to an electrical box because I only need it for like a week to do my science project for a few hours a day, but I need this done basically tonight and I don't seem to have anyone that will do it. The vanity light has a white cord and and black cord coming out of the back of it and I have an extension cord here, could I do it? How do I do it?
I assume that the cord coming out of the vanity light does not have a plug and that these are bare wires. To be very safe, go to the hardware store and purchase a plug so that the wires can be screwed into place and the exposed wires are covered. Once you secured the wires, plug this into your extention cord, THEN plug the extension cord into the outlet! Also see:

Don't simply stick the wires into the extention cord socket. You may loose a bit more than time in getting yourself a plug.
