What type/size of TV to get?
What sort of type and size TV should I get? The area is not very large, so I am assuming a flat panel (LCD or Plasma) -- projectors (either front or back) are out.
The room is brightly lit, but I've ordered blackout shades. The walls are 12 feet apart, so what size display do I want?
Finally, what brand is worth going with? I'm unable to decide between Fujitsu, Hitachi, and Elite (Pioneer) and I am not terribly cost-sensitive.
Well you don't have a very large room so don't get a 50 to 60 inch Tv, unless you like jacking your neck up/down/all around to watch TV.......
If you're in a 12x12 square room, go for a 45 inch or less display, and ideally you should be using 32 to 36 inch for that size room.
If you're in a 12 x 25 rectangle room a 45 inch is better for this distance (over 20 feet).
The ideal sized TV will allow you to watch the entire screen without moving your neck or your eyes.....eases eye strain....
I SUGGEST A LARGE LCD based TV.....projection or just plain LCD....they are the most reliable, but get what you like.
Next, WHY BUY a TV BRAND that doesn't have Authorized Service Centers to repair them??? Fujitsu? Pioneer??
Hitachi sounds ok, but just make sure there are ASCs in your town to service it. Sony, Mitsubishi, Panasonic.....they all have excellent service policies and want 1-3 day repair turnaround times from their ASCs.....
