Is the ratio of hair dye color and developer the same for all companies?
If I dye my hair with professional grade dye, should I just mix the same amount of color and developer, and does that change with the company I use or the volume of developer?
Developer is developer. It don't matter which brand you use with what hair color. Just make sure you read the directions and get the right volume (ie. 10, 20, 30, 40). But the brand of developer you use doesn't matter. And the amount you use is really up to you. I like to tell my clients to go half and half with the color and developer, but that really isn't necessary. If you go half and half and find that the mixture isn't a consistency that you like, don't be afraid to add a little more color or developer. It won't hurt it to be off a little.
