How to daily clean up contact lense case?
Tell me if I'm doing anything wrong
When I put my contacts on my eyes, I just close the case with the solution thats still in it from last night. Am I supposed to rinse it again or is it safe to keep the solution inside till I put my contact lenses back in the case?
When I take out my contacts I rinse the case with a bit of water then put in new solution.
I was also wondering if its okay to use filtered water to rinse out the contact lense?
Thank you!!!
DO NOT USE TAP WATER to rinse your case - especially from the hot tap. Hot tap water has been sitting in your tank and is full of bugs. Filtering also doesn't remove the bacteria. Boiled water is okay if you don't want to use solution - although not quite as good.
For daily cleaning you want to throw the old solution away and then rinse the case with solution and leave it to dry during the day - the best way is to put the lids facing up and wider than the case and then put the case on the top so that it isn't right in the lids. That lets it dry nicely and because it's upside down dust doesn't get into it.
A dry case is much cleaner than a damp one - much less bugs grow in a dry case.
You should also replace your case about every 2 months - if it looks like it could do with changing it's way past the time it should be changed. It's easiest just to do the quick rinse each day and then change it regularly. I provide one case for each month's wear but even if you buy them extra it should only be a few $ a year.
