What do you use on your baby/toddler's curly hair?
My daugther has curly hair that looks messy and frizzy. I was wondering if there are any curl enhancing sprays that you can use on baby/toddler hair? Most adult products are too strong. Thanks!
This is what I do for my toddlers hair-he is three and I have been doing this for a long time. His hair was very long-down his back with gorgeous curls....I know he's a boy, but he got tons of compliments. It's to his shoulders now.
So all I would do is shampoo his hair with loreal shampoo plus conditioner for curly hair (it's green with red top), next I would put in some conditioner and gently comb his hair until it's nice and smooth. Rinse with lukewarm water or as cool as she can stand it. Any conditioner will do...I like hydrating ones. Also it's not necessary for me to shampoo every day, but I do wet it, condition it every day-especially if we go somewhere.
Next after he gets out of the bath, I use either Paul Mitchell Leave In Conditioner called "the conditioner", or Sebastian Potion 9 wearable treatment which you can purchase at walgreens, target, etc. It's about $15 a tube, but worth it. I personally like the sebastian one but paul mitchell works great too. So I put some in my hands, and put it all over his hair, concentrating on the curls. I comb it through most of the time (sometimes it's not necessary). After I have combed it down and parted it where I wanted to (which you should part it in the bath tub), I take my fingers and at the top/front of his head I push the hair forward (towards his forehead) to make a wave. And wah lah...his hair is beautiful. We also live in 100 degree humid southeast texas weather. Just let it air dry, scrunching is completely unncecessary.
If you want you can put a little mousse in the curls, but for me it makes it a bit crunchy...in fact the straigtening mousses work better than the ones made for the curly hair.
Another product that you might want to try is sunsilk waves of envy gel and cream twist. That works pretty good too-I would still put in the paul mitchell leave in or sebastian potion 9 beforehand.
Hope this helps!!!
The paul mitchell leave in and sebastian potion 9 has never been a problem for using in his hair.
And babybop is correct also...my oldest son's hair was very very curly...more of a course curly than my youngest, and I would put baby lotion in his hair and it worked beautifully.
