I can only do a 50 lbs dumbbell press. Does this make sense compared to my other weight?
I feel like my 50 lbs dumbbell press does not make sense compared to my other weights. In general i do:
35 lbs bicep curls (3 sets of 10)
60 lb overhead tricep extension (2 sets of 10)
25 llb wrist curls (3 sets of 10)
and i can do 35 pushups in a row and i weigh 165 lbs.
P.S. I do not use a proper bench like i should. Instead i use a little footrest that came with a chair. Does this effect the amount of weight i am pressing?
No, it doesn't make sense.
You sound reasonably strong and should be able to do more than just 50 pounds for a press. So this means you're either doing it wrong or you're doing it after burning yourself out doing all the other things.
My suggestion is always to focus on certain parts of your body when doing weights (especially if you're already built up a base). Then focus on one or two muscle groups that don't necessarily work together.
Day 1: Chest and shoulders
Day 2: Arms and back
Day 3: Legs and chest
Day 4: Shoulders and back
Day 5: Arms and legs
Day 6: Rest.
On day 7 you can start the process again, do light cardio or rest. It's up to you. But this way you're working two muscle groups a day and never working the same muscle group without at least a day's rest in between. Also, take it easy and if you find yourself straining to complete a set or experience muscle pain, soreness or weakness stop immediately. You don't want to cause yourself any damage.
