What do I need to do to set up a retirement/care/old peoples home here in the UK?
What do I need to do to set one up, do I need a licence to open one up?
Mainly you need money .. a few million to start with (there's no point asking RBS for a loan == they already have more than £1.5 billion "invested" in Retirement Homes 
)
[UK law make theses an extremely poor proposition .. by the time you have paid for the property to be converted to meet all the various safety standards and access requirements, and then hired the requisite number of fully trained and registered Staff, you might as well have opened a 5 star Hotel (it would be cheaper) ..]
