Flat-iron question - How do I tame the ends of my hair?
I recently bought a flat iron and love the results. I've noticed though that my ends aren't flat and smooth. I know I'm doing something wrong but can't figure out what. I was using Nexxus Heat Protexx and have switched to Bumble and Bumble styling lotion. I get the same result with either product. Could it be the wrong product? Or is it the flat iron? I wasn't sure how I would feel about a flat iron so I didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on one. I opted for a Conair Infiniti ceramic 2" flat iron. It works fine but I'm sure there are better options out there.
I should also mention that my daughter's hair turns out the same with the flat iron. We have similar hair, thick and wavy. We try not to condition our hair in the shower because we tend to have oily roots. A stylist suggested we not condition and use a Bumble and Bumble leave-in conditioner.
So, recommendations, anyone?
you need to comb the ends of your hair as you are running the flat iron over them, like right before...you can use a regular comb..or I just use my fingers...I run them through the section I am ironing in front of the iron to keep the hair in line and make sure it is not tangled.....keeping them strait it the best way...you also my be trying to straiten to large of sections at a time...try smaller sections with the combing...and if this doesnt work...it means the ends are fried and you need a trim.......
You do also need a good iron...anything that you can buy at walmart is crap...theey do not get hot enough to do a good job..unless you are trying to flatten out naturally strait hair....Try going to Sally's and buying something in the $40 range that is ceramic...its going to work a lot better
And if you have the money..just buy a CHI...they are $100
