thank you
remember i am starting off with dry hair
and the only tools i have is a flat iron and a brush
i too did this for many many years---keep your hair in a towel until the water has cleared from your bathroom, or dry your hair in another room. water is your enemy! dry your hair in layers. i would take a section by running my fingers from the top of my ears back, then the next top/front of my ears up. then do each side while leaving a strip down the top of my head to do last. this part i would wrap around the brush and dry towards the front of my head. it will give you a nice amount of volume around your face.
something you can also do while you are straightening your hair with the dryer, is to run the iron through each section before you go to the next. that way you'll know if you've left anything wet in the back.
as for products i like the matrix sleek look system. it's 4 products and it seems to work the best even when it's raining outside. the bad news is if you live in humid weather or it's raining, you're not going to be able to keep your hair straight no matter how hard you try.
i now straighten my hair when i've got an hour to do so, because i have sooo much of it now, and i've actually gotten a handle on the wavy hairstyle. we're both every luck girls!!! the best of both worlds, and i bet you can get your hair super curly too! if you want to test out your waves, i like to use the aussie mousse with a quick dry setting and not fully drying my hair, and concentrating on the front of my hair around my face and underneath around my neck/back. i don't ever flip my hair nor do i touch it while i'm drying it. just blow it down or straight in at my head to achieve a little bit of volume. then i take the curling iron and adjust the parts that didn't dry quite right. i've found that the best wavy hair style is one that has been slept on with no alterations...go figure!
also, be sure to keep your hands out of your finished hair for the straight style! only use a brush or a comb.
