When should you apply for a 4 year scholarship for the Army ROTC, and Air Force ROTC?
I will be attending my Junior in High School near the end of august. I don't know what college I want to go to, and I was wondering when is it too late to apply for a 4 Year Scholarship to either the Army, or Air Force.
I am planning on becoming an Eagle Scout sometime near November, maybe later. Is that too late?
Also for the Presidents Physical Test, I think that's what it is called. How many sit ups, curl ups, push ups do I have to do, and how fast do I have to be able to run a mile?
Any information would be great.
Thanks!
When you elect to get a scholarship they base it on a few things. They deem you scholarship worthy on either Academic, Athletic or Leadership standards. I would apply near the end of your Senior year. As for now, in order to get a better look. Do more leadership tasks. Officers are leaders and they want people who already have leadership experience when they come in. Do well in you academics.
As far as Presidents Physical Test, that doesn't matter. You need to be able to pass an APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test). The minimum standard for your age is 45 push ups in 2 minutes, 55 situps in 2 minutes, and 15:54 2-mile run. The better your PT score is, the better your chance of getting a scholarship. Try and be able to do 75-push ups in two minutes, 78 situps in two minutes, and run the 2-mile in 13 minutes, with 10 minute breaks in between. This along with your Eagle scout, hopefully some athletic activities as well as some other extra curricular activities, a good PT score with great academics will guarantee you a scholarship. Try looking at my sources for further information.
